The Kuwait Joint Support Office (KJSO) is a service centre located in Kuwait which provides remote back-office functions to the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) and United Nations Assistance Mission in Iraq (UNAMI).

In its resolution 65/259, the General Assembly noted the intention of the Secretary-General to establish a support office in Kuwait for UNAMA and requested the Secretary-General to explore possibilities for cost-sharing between UNAMA and UNAMI. In 2012, the Secretary-General informed the Assembly that the envisaged Kuwait Joint Support Office would integrate UNAMA and UNAMI functions in finance and human resources and would also provide remote support to UNAMA in other areas such as conduct and discipline, audit, procurement, finance, information management, movement control, surface transportation, information and communications technology, budget and planning, geographic information systems and property survey and claims.[1]. On this basis, KJSO was established in December 2012.

Following the implementation of management reform, KJSO—under the direction of the Department of Operational Support—has also been used to support other missions, including in performing residual finance and human resources transactions for MINUJUSTH during liquidation.[2]
