Dag Hammarskjöld was the second United Nations Secretary-General, serving from 10 April 1953 to his death on 18 September 1961.

Legislative history

The General Assembly agenda item "Investigation into the conditions and circumstances resulting in the tragic death of Dag Hammarskjöld and of the members of the party accompanying him" was first introduced during the 16th Session of the General Assembly, in 1961[1].
